Indian students, there has been a crazy contemplation to pursue medical in foreign countries. Most students prefer countries like China, Russia and some parts of Eastern Europe and some students, who can spend more would like to join colleges in the USA and UK. These thoughts prevail due to the heavy competition among the students.
The number of government medical college is very few and seats allotted are limited for the students. India being the first nation to have the maximum number of a medical hospital, and it has failed to increase the seats in the colleges. There are many great private medical colleges in India which are bit costly and for a normal student from the middle-class background and he could barely manage to pay his tuition. The cost spent on donation in some private medical college would be around Rs50lakhs. Whereas, the student who opts to study in foreign countries would complete their entire course at half the donation fee paid in Indian private medical colleges.
So the students start looking for some better option to switch to countries like China and Russia and Ukraine which cost less and they would have a greater exposure to different cultures. But in recent times the quality of education provided in Chinese colleges started declining which affects the results of the students who appear for screening test conducted by the Medical Council of India. The screening test finds out the capability of the student whether he/she could practice medicine in India.
Since the past decade, students started preferring the Philippines for their medical education than China and Russia. The country lies in the same zone and thus experiences the same climatic conditions and medicine patterns, unlike China and Russia which are much colder when compared to India. On comparing the pass percentage of students who appears for their screening test the students from the Philippines stood next to Bangladesh.
Some of the Advantages:
As informed earlier, private institutes in India have huge amounts of donation or capitation fee, apart from the yearly fee. This is not the case for colleges or universities abroad. Most of the MBBS colleges in China, Russia, Ukraine etc. have no donation or capitation fee. Even the tuition fee is very low in comparison to the Indian private colleges ranging from Rs. 2.5 Lakhs to Rs. 4.5 Lakhs every year.
No Entrance Test for Admission:
Unlike India, there is no entrance test required to secure admission in an MBBS college. Admission will be strictly based on your performance in 12th standard and first-cum-first-serve basis. Students with more than 75% in their 12th standard are given preference.
Extremely Low Cost of Living:
This is the part where most of the students and parents worry and take a back step. Although most of the foreign countries to study MBBS in are from Europe, the living cost is relatively cheap.
World Class Infrastructure:
All the campuses across Russia, Ukraine, China, Philippines have world class structure with modern equipment in hospitals. For instance, MBBS study in Ukraine will be very fruitful as most of the universities in Ukraine are of high standard and globally recognized by WHO, UNESCO, European Council etc.
